The English Channel

Lately the U.K. music scene has been HUGE. Amazing talent after amazing talent keeps on-a-comin'. I mean what's not to love about the slight undertones of an accented lead singer? The often raw guitar? And boys from over the pond? Thus, today I am posting a few of my favorite songs from U.K. talent.

The Kooks:
You may have noticed that the title of this blog is respectively the title of this band's latest album. I couldn't help it.. even the name just ˆsounds good. This British based band has popped into the indie rock song at full force. Their album, Inside in Inside Out, is full of catchy beats that will undoubtedly get stuck in your head. My personal favorite, "Sofa Song," contains a delicious acoustics, strong vocals, and my personal favorite, catchy lyrics: "So won't you come on over, to this side of my sofa..." http://www.mediafire.com/?8lu93b311hz

Klaxons:
Their latest album "Myths of the Near Future" was spurred by the band's desire not to write about the present times. "Myths" is a creative effort to break the modern day woes and make something bigger. "Golden Skans" is perhaps the catchiest song of the lot. Although you have to stretch to make sense of the lyrics, the overall appeal of this song has won me over. http://www.mediafire.com/?7rp2ylmzzyj

Arctic Monkeys:
Arctic Monkeys are to me, the most impressive act as of late hailing from England. Their inventiveness is original and refreshing. Their latest album, "Favourite Worst Nightmare," is very impressive and I highly recommend it. "Brainstorm," is a track of note. The instrumentation at the beginning of this song goes far beyond the call of talent... so good. http://www.mediafire.com/?fmatzeccn1m

Bloc Party:
Bloc Party has been around the indie rock scene for a while now. After the successful album, "Silent Alarm," the boys are back with their second album entitled, "A Weekend in the City." If someone were to mention Bloc Party, I would immediately recognize the name for the melodious guitars, synths, and the heavy accented lead vocals of Kele Okerke. The album is full of charming lyrics and ballads that will no doubt charm their way right into a little soft spot inside. http://www.mediafire.com/?egmgwd0yohz
